D&D Character: Riwan

Strong moral fiber and unwavering loyalty

Riwan, a goliath of strong moral fiber and unwavering loyalty, had always felt a deep connection to the teachings of Selûne. As a young girl growing up within the monastery walls, she found comfort in the moon goddess's gentle light and the serenity of the rituals. Unlike her mischievous gnome companions, Tisvian and Waesfir, Riwan was drawn to the quiet contemplation and disciplined life that the monastery offered.    

However, Riwan's path was not solely one of peaceful devotion. 

Her natural strength and protective instincts led her to train in combat, mastering the art of the sword and shield. She saw no contradiction between her faith and her martial prowess, believing that true strength lay in defending those who could not defend themselves.

Eos Dawnbringer, the high cleric of Selûne, recognized Riwan's potential and took her under his wing. He saw in her a rare combination of compassion, discipline, and unwavering loyalty. When Tisvian and Waesfir's antics threatened to disrupt the harmony of the monastery, it was Eos who entrusted Riwan with the task of guiding them.    

Riwan's fondness for the two gnomes was tempered by her exasperation at their constant mischief. She understood their desire to bring joy and laughter to the world, but she also recognized the potential harm their impulsiveness could cause. With a patient hand and a firm voice, she sought to temper their recklessness while nurturing their inherent goodness.    

Charged with a sacred duty

When Tisvian was ultimately asked to leave the monastery, Riwan knew she had to accompany him and Waesfir. Eos had charged her with a sacred duty: to guide these two mischievous gnomes towards the people they were destined to become. She saw in them the seeds of greatness, the potential for heroism that lay hidden beneath their playful exteriors.    

Riwan's journey with Tisvian and Waesfir is one of constant challenge and unexpected growth. She struggles to balance her own desire for order and control with the gnomes' chaotic energy. Yet, through their shared experiences, she learns to embrace the unexpected and to trust in the power of friendship.    

Compassion and the importance of finding joy 

Riwan's loyalty to Eos and her devotion to Selûne remain steadfast, but her journey with Tisvian and Waesfir teaches her the true meaning of compassion and the importance of finding joy even in the midst of chaos. She is the anchor that keeps the group grounded, the voice of reason that guides them through their misadventures, and the unwavering friend who believes in them even when they doubt themselves.
